How we build patios & pool decks
Pool decks need more than a flat surface: the concrete has to slope away from the pool, stay slip-resistant when wet, and handle chlorinated or salt water without staining. We plan the layout around your pool, screen enclosure and drainage before the first form goes in.
For patios we look at how you will use the space: dining, a grill or outdoor kitchen, a fire pit, a pergola. The slab is sized and reinforced for what will sit on it, and the finish is chosen for comfort underfoot.
Patio and pool deck options
- Pool decks in diagonal or square slab patterns with turf joints
- Large backyard slabs that tie the pool, pergola and lawn together
- Stamped and colored patios: stone, slate, wood-plank and brick patterns
- Brushed and exposed-aggregate finishes for slip resistance around water
- Pads for outdoor kitchens, hot tubs, sheds and equipment
Why homeowners and businesses choose TCP Concrete
Cooler and safer around water
Textured and lighter-colored finishes stay comfortable to walk on and reduce the chance of slipping when wet.
Designed around drainage
Pool decks and patios are sloped and jointed so rain leaves the surface instead of pooling by the house or the pool edge.
Low maintenance for years
No pavers to re-level, no sand to replace. Sealing every few years keeps the color and protects the surface.
Our process
- Free on-site estimate. We measure, check drainage and access, and discuss finishes. You receive a written, itemized estimate.
- Permits and scheduling. We tell you whether a permit or HOA approval is needed and handle the paperwork.
- Demolition and base. Old concrete is removed, the sub-base is compacted and forms are set to drain.
- Reinforcement and pour. Steel goes in, concrete is placed, finished and jointed.
- Curing and walkthrough. We protect the new concrete while it cures and walk the finished job with you.
Frequently asked questions
Can you pour a new deck over my existing pool deck?
Sometimes an overlay is possible if the existing slab is sound. More often the right fix is to remove the old deck and pour new concrete with proper slope and reinforcement. We assess it on site.
Which finish is best around a pool?
A brushed, exposed-aggregate or lightly textured stamped finish gives traction when wet. Smooth troweled concrete is not recommended around water.
How long does a patio or pool deck project take?
Most residential patios and pool decks are formed, poured and finished within a few days, plus curing time before furniture and heavy use.
